DHEA is a naturally occurring hormone with over 150 different metabolic and physiological functions within the human body. DHEA is responsible for hormonal function, including key hormones such as Growth Hormone that helps metabolize fatty acids and add muscle.
Other research suggests that DHEA may aid in bone mineral density, cardiovascular health, maintain healthy cholesterol levels, reducing fatigue and maintain healthy production of key hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.
Although DHEA is a totally natural supplement, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has banned it because of how strong the potential benefits can be. If you complete in college or professional sport we advise you check with your organization first.
Because DHEA interacts with your hormones some research suggests that you should avoid it if you are pregnant, still going through puberty, breastfeeding or have medical conditions such as cancer.
